According to this article, we can know the main trend of the legislation about abortion in different countries during 1998 to 2007. It is obvious that liberalization of abortion laws is the main trend during the last 10 years in the world. Even the countries have prohibited abortion by its laws, they permit abortion when pregnancy would hurt the mother's health. Only a few countries prohibit abortion without exceptions.
The sources support my points. There is no denying that to ban abortion under all the conditions is impossible. If the government liberalizes the laws and makes the aborted procedures more accessible, It can reduce women's mortality or morbidity. It also increases woman's human rights, because woman can be the master of her own bodies. They would not be forced to accept the children even when the children come from rape, incest, and so forth.

It is obvious that liberalization of abortion laws is the main trend during the last 10 years in the world. Since 1998, 16 countries have increased the number of grounds on which abortions may be legally performed. Even the countries have prohibited abortion by its laws, they allow a part of abortion when pregnancy would hurt the mother's health. Only a few countries prohibit abortion without exceptions.
The research paper supports my point of views. Banning abortion under all the conditions is impossible. If the government liberalizes the laws and makes the aborted procedures more accessible, it can reduce women's maternal mortality or morbidity. It also increases woman's human rights, because woman can be the master of her own bodies. They would not be forced to accept the child even when the child come from rape, incest, and so forth.
Women are in the first place of this issue of abortion. Restrict abortion not only harm women’s human rights, but also make the secret and dangerous abortion increase. By the normal access to abortion can help women stay in a safer condition. They do not have to worry about the danger of accepting a secret procedure. If a woman considers aborting her child, the government should provide her enough information and the result of abortion instead of limiting women’s rights. As the woman understand what abortion is, how the procedure be performed, and think about why she choose to abort her baby, she would make the most appropriate decision.

Developments in Laws on Induced Abortion:1998-2007

CONTEXT:
Women's lack of access to legal abortion is a major contributing factor to high rates of worldwide maternal mortality and morbidity. This article describes changes in the legal status of abortion in countries around the world since 1998. METHODS: The complete texts of new abortion legislation, most often obtained directly from government Web sites, were reviewed to determine changes. Background information was, where possible, also based on a review of complete legal texts. Other sources include the International Digest of Health Legislation (published by the World Health Organization) and Abortion Policies: A Global Review (published in 2002 by the Population Division of the United Nations). RESULTS: Since 1998, 16 countries have increased the number of grounds on which abortions may be legally performed; in two other countries, state jurisdictions expanded grounds for abortion. Two countries have removed grounds for legal abortion. Other countries maintained existing indications for abortion but adopted changes affecting access to the procedure.
CONCLUSIONS:
The worldwide trend toward liberalization of abortion laws observed in 1998 has continued. Recognition of the impact of abortion restrictions on women's human rights has played an increasing role in efforts to provide access to abortion.

Reflection <1>
“Abortion” is the controversial topic which I chose for my issue paper. So far, we have written the introduction and collected some materials for the issue paper. Several problems revealed in the process when I tried to express my standpoints in the article. After the meeting with professor, I put the problems together, and I also thought of how to make a better arrangement with my points of view.
First of all, I want to add the motivations of writing such issue. That is what motivates me to research the disputable issue, and if there were things which could be connected with the topic in my life. There are many aspects that I have thought of to put in the paper. For example, what are the reasons for women choosing to abort her baby? Does the government have the right to forbid abortion? Whose human rights should we consider about, the mother’s or the baby’s? I must find a specific main argument and convey my own perspectives much clearer. It is the most important part for me to do in the article. Besides, I want to make a comparison with anti-abortion, the opposite idea to my point. I would list the advantages and disadvantages of them, and try to convince people to stand by my side.
As to the supporting materials, I have found several news reports and videos from youtube. These materials include two opposite views toward abortion. It is hard to find the academic articles which correspond to my points. To solve the problem, using the specific and clear keywords when I search the database is significant. I have to get the sources with the better quality to support my standpoints. With these supporting materials, my article would become more convincible.
So far, building a concrete direction about my issue is the toughest mission for me. Because there are so many aspects can be talked about, I am not quite sure which one I should choose. I want to stand by women’s side, and controvert to those who thinks that abortion is equal to murder. To make the article more convincible, I still have to find out the supporting materials, the main writing direction toward my topic, and my own conclusion to the issue.
